Lord Street is the wide tree lined shopping street in the Southport Conservation Area. In 1846 Prince Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, lived for a brief period in lodgings of Lord Street. It is reputed, that he used Lord Street as the inspiration for the Champs Elysees in Paris. Following a period of economic decline, the historic listed shop fronts and Victorian canopies had become in severe need of restoration. As Landscape Team leader, Shea led the team that bid for Heritage Lottery Fund, Townscape Funding, to restore the listed shopfronts and wrought iron and glass canopies, War Memorial and numerous gardens and fountains within the one mile street.
Following the heritage investment the enhancements helped to win Southport seven Royal Horticultural Society, Britain in Bloom Gold medals, with additional awards for Best Regional and National Seaside destinations. Shea is expert in preparing Heritage Strategies, HLF funding bids and detailing sensitive restoration techniques for metal work and stone repairs. Her dramatic and colourful bedding displays have won much praise from the RHS.
